Designers We Love: Lidy Dipert

Here at Fireplace World, we have a passion for all things interior design related.

So much so, we're always on the look out for fresh talent that can share with us the secrets of having a better home. This week, we've discovered the blog of Lidy Dipert - an interior designer based in the USA.

We caught up with Lidy to get some insights into her inspiration, as well as a few cheeky design tips!

Please introduce yourself.

Hello, my name is Lidy Dipert, and I am from Bakersfield in Central America.

What do you do?

I create and cultivate unique spaces that integrate original handmade designs and vintage pieces, while keeping up on current trends and designs.

What got you interested in interior design?

It kind of runs in the family. I owe it to both my Oma's for their unique and lovely spaces - I have always admired their homes and special pieces that always had such fascinating stories attached to them. They both immigrated to Canada from Holland. I realized then that homes are so much more than just looking pretty, they have to really tell the story of who lives there.

What's your favourite interior style?

Just like design, my tastes are constantly changing! But right now I love scandinavian interiors - the simple, clean and bright style is something I admire.

Have any interesting design stories?

Our current home is filled with my favorite projects! In order to make it feel like it reflected us, we had to create one-of-a-kind pieces to fit our home just right. Like our Danish inspired shelving unit, reclaimed wood coffee table, industrial shelving in our master bedroom, our hexagonal dining table and brass swing lamp. These are all projects that I am very proud of and happy we were able to create in order to make our home truly unique!

What's your proudest moment?

Being voted Better Homes and Gardens top 10 design blogs. This really lifted my spirit and encouraged me! I felt it was a sign I'm on the right path and that I'm doing what I was meant to do all along!

Do you have any fun fireplace tips?

I always try to incorporate books, plants, a decorative object and some sort of art (whether hung above the shelf or leaning)!
